Sharon Van Etten, Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌

Sharon Van Etten is back with a new album. This is her first featuring her new band, The Attachment Theory. Before I get into, let preface it by saying that overall I enjoyed this album, but this is very much a tale of two sides of an album.

What I mean by that is the first side is pretty much exclusively melancholic, reverb drenched, sad indie music. Which is fine, but I was starting to squirm a little. There didn’t seem to be much variety, and frankly I was kind of worried that this would be all the album was.

But then, boom! You hit the fifth track, “Indio,” and the music really opens up. The tracks become more up tempo, and radiate a cool 80s vibe. The diversity found in the second half of the album not only makes those songs enjoyable, but also makes you go back and appreciate the first half more with just how different it is in contrast.

Favorite song: “I Can’t Imagine (Why You Feel This Way)”
