The Weeknd, Hurry Up Tomorrow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌
I’m not even gonna lie, I expected the worst here. At first glance you’ll notice that this album is absolutely packed to the gills. 22 songs at 1 hour and 25 minutes. Ridiculous. A lot of room for filler and fat. Mix that with the fact that The Weeknd is coming off of his horrible television show, The Idol, that he co-created, and your expectations can’t help but be a little dampened.
But as it turns out, this is a great example of “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” The album starts off strong, and never lets off the gas. His sense of melody, and ability to craft infectious songs is on full display here. And his honest and raw lyrics add an emotional depth to it all.
There are songs that probably could have gotten axed to cut down the intimidating runtime. But honestly there’s not much, if any, filler to be found here.
