Finn Wolfhard, Happy Birthday ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌

Finn Wolfhard, yes, Mike from Stranger Things, has dropped his first full length album. He is the third Stranger Things cast member to do so, following Maya Hawke and Joe Keery (AKA Djo). I mean, they must have plenty of time on set to work on music since it seems to take them forever to make a new season of that show. The final season is coming out this year, and the “kids” are all damn near middle aged at this point.

All jokes aside, this album is really solid. I’m always skeptical when an actor releases an album, so I went into this admittedly cynical. But by the second track, “Choose the Latter,” I was won over. It’s just really easy listening, catchy, lo-fi indie rock, and it’s pretty great. He’s a really good songwriter.

I love the production here, or seeming lack there of, too. It’s a very authentic lo-fi sound. It would not surprise me if it was all just done in his bedroom. Hell, the vocals sound like they could have been recorded on an iPhone voice memo app. I love when an album sounds like anybody could have made it. It’s very inspiring.

My one complaint, and it’s rare that I’ll ever say this about an album, but it’s too short. At only 9 songs and clocking in at 25 minutes, come on! Give me more! This is some good stuff!

Favorite song: “Crown”
