It was a fantastic summer night at Starlight Theatre for the Lindsey Stirling Duality Tour featuring support acts Audriix and Walk Off The Earth.
The night began with Audriix, who drew inspiration from real-life stories about a toxic ex-fiancé or past boyfriends. Still, the lyrics deliver positive affirmations and messages behind these catchy songs. Also on the setlist was “Rest of My Life,” a song written after the loss of her grandmother last year. The song was also released today. I will admit the song had many eyes leaking.
If you ask many concert photographers what they enjoy about reviewing concerts, many might say, “The exposure you get to bands or musicians that you have never heard of that you’re now a fan of.”
The second support band of the night is an indie pop band, Walk Off The Earth. They were energetic and captivating from the very first song. The band, who hails from Burlington, Canada brought their impressive stage performance to show Kansas City why they are a multi-nominated and winner of various CASBY and Juno Awards. These musicians are so versatile, and watching multiple instruments come into play was amazing. They had everything from kazoos to recorders to a didgeridoo. During their set, frontwoman Sarah Blackwood and bandmate Gianni “Luminati” welcomed their three sons to perform with the band. Go check out this band; you will thank me later.
Lindsey Stirling closes out this fantastic summer night under the stars with her captivating fusion of dance and performance skills that leave fans in awe. The double-decker steel frame is tonight’s backdrop and houses platforms for bandmates and her dance team to perform on. Lindsey reminds us, as she knows all too well, that just because others may not see your potential doesn’t mean it is not there. Never give up on yourself.” The set opens up with an intro of that young schoolgirl auditioning on Americas Got Talent, with five of her past character silhouettes dancing behind her. Then, the curtain drops to the emotional duality storyline of the night that mesmerizes fans all night. No spoilers here. In the end, Lindsey is still packing houses, has plenty of potential, and not to mention talent.
