Howdy – Kansas City, MO
Listening to Poolblood live is a deeply emotional experience. Completely vulnerable and straight to the heart. Hearing them at Howdy was akin to eavesdropping on a heartbroken neighbor’s phone call to their mother in the depths of the most difficult day of their life, except without the wall to separate you. A tidal wave of emotion with nowhere to go, nothing to do but lovingly contemplate the pain of living.
Downtempo drifting, delicately deciphering damage done upon the soul. Sweet and warm, yet solitarily worn. Sounds like a spring morning, all alone in the middle of a forest. Just you, the birds, and Poolblood.
All the way from Toronto, Canada, to Kansas City, Missouri, their band is three pieces of gold.
Their drummer is accurate and gentle. Their bassist is steady and somber.
Their vocalist and guitarist is hurt yet hopeful. Her lyrics cause pause and reflection, yet to the casual listener, coalesces into the wistful harmonies seamlessly that fill the whole room as simply beautiful, beautiful sound. – Ki Ra
