People say that the music scene in Southwest Kansas is dead. They say that the atmosphere of the live show in Kansas isn’t what it used to be. A couple years back my bandmates and I decided that it was time for a change. It was time to put some life back into the arts in our area. With that in mind, we came up with the idea of Gunsmoke Sessions.
Gunsmoke Sessions is an annual, all day music festival that takes place in Dodge City, KS. This year will be our second annual music festival and we plan to make it bigger and better than our inaugural presentation back in 2022. Our ultimate goal behind the event is to bring varying cultures of all ages together in one place to enjoy the arts. On top of that, we want the festival to have quality production so that our community knows we can put on a great show for them.
In order to put on a festival of this caliber it does take quite a bit of funds. We are very fortunate to have such a good support system from local businesses in town to sponsor our event. This year we decided to do a fundraiser show as well in order to meet our budget goal. We will be hosting this fundraiser event at the Doctor’s Office Bar in Dodge City on Saturday, March 11th. This event will feature three bands.
Opening the show will be the band Stull. They are a three piece stoner doom out from Dodge City that includes members of the band Aether. This will actually be their debut performance, so I’m personally super stoked to see that.
Following them will be central Kansas metalheads in Imajjjin bringing you some thrashy goodness. You definitely don’t want to miss them! The solos are insane with that group.
Closing out the night will be our band, Aether. We’re a four piece hard rock band with influences from bands such as Chevelle, Deftones, and Stone Sour.
As the main event coordinators of Gunsmoke Sessions, we’ve decided that it would only be fair that we perform at the fundraiser to show our followers that we put in work (and well…performing is fun). It is a 21 and over event with a $10 cover charge at the door. All attendees will be given a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of our four giveaways that were graciously donated by local business. All the funds will go towards Gunsmoke Sessions to help pay for sound engineering, venue rental, performances, and more. We will also be selling physical tickets to the main Gunsmoke Sessions Music Festival taking place on April 22nd, 2023. They are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the event.
