Paramount Bar, Salina, KS
It’s been a while since I last stepped into Paramount Bar in Salina. A fun little bar with a stage that always gives musicians a chance to pay for their fans.
I’m not sure how long it’s been since the Hays duo last played here, but I recall seeing them play here in 2019 for Buildings Like Mountains album release party. I’ve certainly written about them in length before, and they continue to put on banger after banger each time they step on stage.
I have been wanting to see the Ephinjis for a while. Pronounced Eff-En-Geez or “Effin’ G’s”, “Fuckin New Guys”, call em what you will, this Denver based band didn’t disappoint in their showcasing of talent. Uniformly decked out in matching suits, the trio belted out their original rock tunes, reminiscent of Green Day, if Black Sabbath had collaborated with them in their American Idiot-era. They cannot be missed wherever they tour.
The overall crowd shifted a bit between the Ephinjis and SLB. Moving from a younger fan base to a bit older group as the metal cover group, originally from the Hays area, now spread out across the state, started their set. Comprising 2 different sets of classic rock covers, with some original music sprinkled in, the foursome closed out the evening in Salina by treating the audience to a smorgasbord of 80s and 90s hits.
