It has been a decade since I last stepped foot in the Cotillion where I saw Picture Me Broken, One Eyed Doll, and Otep on 3/14/13. Just barely over 10 years later, I got back there to witness the Blind Obedience Tour featuring Loathe, Periphery, and Underøath.

Loathe – The British rockers from Liverpool opened the show with an electric and moving set. Including “Screaming” and “Is It Really You?” in their set, they NEED to come back through the area. Once is not enough for me.

Periphery – I had never heard of Periphery prior to tonight, and what a shame as I was engulfed in a sonically appetizing array of progressive djent metal that could not be contained within the confines of the Cotillion. The D.C. group unleashed on the crowd, starting with “Reptile”, a 16 minute long opus that got the adrenaline spewing. As with Loathe, they need to come through many times as I need this more in my life than previously known.

Underøath – I first heard of the Florida Metalcore group back with their 2004 album “They’re Only Chasing Safety”, and looked forward to hearing them take the stage. Lead Singer Spencer Chamberlin stood still for no one, spouting clean and screaming vocals across the stage and through the auditorium. They did not disappoint the crowd, playing 90 minutes and closing out an adrenaline fueled evening. Must have more of all of them.
