Lead Into Gold:
From former Ministry bassist Paul Barker, comes his solo project Lead Into Gold, a minimalistic industrial project. Their show, accompanied by a pair of projectors and screens, is entirely about the experience and letting the light and music push the listener around and feel the intensity they are surrounded by.
The new album from Lead Into Gold, The Eternal Present, released in February and is worth putting on some headphones, dimming the lights, and enjoying letting it take you on a journey
Skinny Puppy:
Fun Fact: Facebook will give you a concerned warning if you want to search for them. It’s understandable, but entertaining. But I digress…
The crowd did not disappoint in bringing out the standard attire for a show like this. The style of black leather, lace, fishnets and face makeup is not dead, and Lawrence brought their love and appreciation for the history and spirit of the music of Skinny Puppy.
The industrial music pioneers embodied the theatrical experience and spirit, putting on a show for the audience that is unlike anything I have witnessed in a stage show. It wasn’t until I left the theatre that evening that I looked back on my history to find I’d never been to an industrial show before. The first three songs began with a shadow puppet performance behind a lit canvas, finally introducing the alien host and it’s follower of sorts. It’s hard to really describe the unique experience that going to one of their shows offers. With this being their Final Tour, they cannot be missed as their music is only part of the aura and intrigue.
