Classic rock will never die. It gets a little grey, or really grey, but the best age like a fine wine, continuing the craft and weaving memorable music, displaying it for their adoring audience. Toto continues performing well into their 4th decade of life, bringing the beloved classics “Rosanna” and “Hold The Line” to life, among a huge selection of music from across their career. There’s another song they perform, and it isn’t coming to me at the moment. It’s on the top of my tongue. It’ll come to me.
Lead guitarist Steve Lukather, the seasoned veteran plays mind-melting solos that rival the likes of Clapton. Busting into a breathtaking riff during “Rosanna”, time stops as he emotes sounds from those strings that flow over the skin and thru the ears like water washing over the sands of a beach.
Joseph Williams, the only other original member on this tour, joined him on stage to share in serenading the packed house with more of their greatest hits, “I’ll Supply the Love”, “Pamela”, and why is the name of this song escaping me right now.
Even into their 40+ years of performing together, Toto still warms the spirits of their audiences with their timeless songs, melodies, and performances, closing out the show tonight with “Africa” and a cover of “With a Little Help (from my friends)”.
The Dogz of Oz tour continues in Tulsa on the 31st with Journey.
