September 29th, Wilco Cousin *MUST HEAR*
We’ve been spoiled recently with a string of really great albums from a myriad of artists, but this one might just be my favorite. Wilco have revisited their Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost is Born sound on this one. Sonically bleak, but with light peaking through the cracks.
Jeff Tweedy’s lyrics are quite possibly the darkest they’ve ever been. He has abandoned symbolism and vagueness for more direct anxiety. A good example is “Ten Dead,” which illustrates how apathetic we’ve become towards tragedy with a frankness that I don’t know if I’ve ever heard in his lyrics before.
Favorite song: “Pittsburgh”
