For the last 25 years, Hairball have set stages ablaze with the music of classic metal and rock music from the 70’s and 80’s. There’s certainly no sign of stopping, hitting the road this year for their Silver Anniversary Tour with 75 listed shows across the United States. Kicking off in January in Eau Claire, WI, this tour runs through October, finishing off in Deadwood, SD on November 1st.

There are cover bands, and then there’s Hairball, who have spent the better part of the last 2 decades perfecting their craft and creating an atmosphere for every show that blows the audience out of the water. Speaking with Vocalist Dave Moody about the upcoming tour and the celebration of what this tour is all about, “It’s the celebration of everything from the 70’s and 80’s with full costuming and full makeup, more pyro than a 70’s KISS concert. We’re gonna make you walk in there, but we’ll want to make you float out. The whole intention is just to transform you back to a simpler time when there’s big rock choruses, and there was big rock songs, and there was big rock bands. And that’s what we do best, and now we’re celebrating 25 years of that.”

“We’re four months into this thing and it’s just been amazing the amount of people that have shown up, that have shown love to not only us, but to the music that we tribute, to the characters that we portray. It’s just been an amazing amount of people that have shown up to, like I say, bask in the glory of rock and roll. And it’s just amazing to witness in this day and age of all the craziness that we’ve got going on in our world. This is like a little oasis in the middle of the desert of all the insanity. We’re where everybody comes and it doesn’t matter what your leanings are. We’re Ellis Island. We welcome everybody.” And anyone who has been to a hairball show in the past knows that the experience alone of witnessing their show is something to behold. Their tributes to artists ranging from Twisted Sister, Van Halen, Ozzy, Alice Cooper, and of course KISS, the full embodiment of their stage shows aren’t just covering songs, but costumes, pyro, lights, and energy.

“Topeka is always great. Kansas in general has always been so great to us. Park City, Dodge City, Wichita, Hays, etc. The people from Kansas are just so phenomenal. Just incredible, incredible parts of the country and great rock and roll fans. And like I said, everywhere we go, that town for that evening is the Rock and Roll capital of the world, because all the fans turn out and make it so. Every time we go out, it’s just, we’re shocked by it. We’re blessed and we’re humbled and thankful for it.

Continuing, talking about the fans and the crowds that have been out to shows, not just on this tour, but over the last quarter century, “The crowds have been phenomenal, the response has been phenomenal. The way that people are coming out in droves, I mean, people need it. They want it. And they want to forget about their troubles for just a little while. It’s family with us, and most of the people that come out to these shows, they’re family, and we’re just so grateful for it. We’re just very thankful that we have people that just continually, no matter how many times they’ve seen the show, they just keep coming.”

As the years have passed, Hairball continues to keep the spirit of the 70’s and 80’s alive. When asked about adding more songs to the catalog of songs they play for crowds, “We always serve the crowd at large, so whoever comes to this show, they’re going to know every single song that we play. They’re going to know it. We go out of our way to make sure that everything we do is geared towards serving the crowds that come through the door, and their good time is more important than anything. So that’s what we try to do.”

“Come on out and celebrate the greatest hits and the biggest courses in the history of rock and roll. Watch me wear more makeup and higher heels, and tighter spandex than your Aunt Judy and your mom and your sister combined, and I’m gonna sing the biggest hits. Some of the greatest courses in the history of rock, and we’re going to blow the place up and we’re just going to have such a great time. And I promise you this, I said it a moment ago but I mean this, you’re going to walk in, but you’re going to float out. You’re going to have a good time because we demand it. You’re going to feel so good about yourself when you leave. We cannot wait to see you.”

Friday, April 25th at Stormont Vail in Topeka promises to be another amazing night of music from Hairball. Opening the show are local favorites Departure. Tickets are available here: https://www.stormontvaileventscenter.com/events/2025/hairball
