Ringo Starr, Look Up ⭐️⭐️⭐️❌❌

Ex-Beatle and NFT salesman, Ringo Starr, is back with a new album. Unlike with most of his releases which just kind of seem to come and go without much fanfare, I’ve actually seen quite a bit of hype for this one. But does it deserve this hype?

Well, the answer is yes, but that doesn’t automatically make this a MUST HEAR or anything. This is Ringo we’re talking about. Any improvement beyond his usual output is welcome. And this is an improvement, to be sure.

Ringo sounds good singing country. Always has. And his charisma and charm come through in spades. But the songs are just so mediocre. There’s nothing exciting here. Just close your eyes and imagine any commonplace country music pastiche you’ve heard a million times. It’s here on this album.

That being said, I still think it succeeds at what it’s trying to do, and it is nice to hear Ringo stepping up his game.

Favorite song: “You Want Some”
