Hatchie, Liquorice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌
Hatchie opened up the latchie and out came her third album. And let me tell ya, you must be smoking on the wacky tobaccy if you think it’s lacky. I know this first paragraph is a bit hackey.
Anyways, enough of that. I usually don’t like to compare artists in reviews because I just think it’s bad form, but this so clearly has the Cocteau Twins’ DNA all over it. If you are a fan of that brand of 1980s – early 90s dream pop, boy, you are in for a treat.
But this album is more than just a pastiche. No, this is a well crafted album in its own right. The songs are delightful, the production is top notch. You really get swept up in this album.
I do wish there was a little bit more variety on display here, but honestly this album is just such a good time that I really don’t mind. I could listen to another hour or two of this and be content.
