Orville Peck, Appaloosa ⭐️⭐️⭐️❌❌
The masked country music outsider Orville Peck is back with a new project. This project sees him at possibly his most somber. Nothing but slow, reflective songs here. The songwriting and performances are sweet and tender, and the production leans towards a Southern gothic sound as Orville’s stuff always does.
But, while it is a good, solid project, it is missing that usual Orville Peck flair. The lack of variation here makes him one dimensional. And all of the songs have the same general melancholic mood.
So, while this isn’t a bad release by any stretch of the imagination, to this artist’s standards it is just average.
