Kasablanca, Higher Resolution ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌

Kasablanca is more than just an old black and white movie. It’s also an up and coming EDM duo. They reached out to me wondering if I would review their debut album, and I’m glad they did. This probably would have been in my blind spot otherwise.

If you go to their page on streaming services, you’ll see Higher Resolution (Side A), which came out last year, and Higher Resolution (Side B) which just came out. It’s technically the same double disc project with this being the disc two. It’s unorthodox, but I actually like that they broke it up like they did. Each “side” is distinct enough to stand on its own, and each feels like its own complete, cohesive work.

Which, that’s what I like most about this project is that it does feel like one cohesive piece (or, two cohesive pieces), rather than just a compilation of tracks. Yet, it never gets bogged down in the same feel or sound. They manage to keep it diverse and keep the listener engaged. You can tell they put a whole lot of work and thought into each half of this album.

Overall, this is a great album that stands out against other EDM albums, musically and conceptually. Listen to (Side A), (Side B), or the whole damn thing. There’s great music around every corner.

Favorite track: “Television”
