Charli xcx, Wuthering Heights ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Charli xcx is having a hell of a year. Her new mockumentary, The Moment, just came out, and now she’s dropped this album. It’s billed as a soundtrack to the new Wuthering Heights film, but it is really just a new Charli album. The film might be polarizing, but this album should not be.

As I alluded to just then, this album is great. I’ll just get that out of the way up top. Listening to this album is a visceral experience at times. Starting with the first track, the very ominous “House featuring John Cale.” It mellows out after that, turning into a more traditional Pop album. But it keeps its edge all the way through.

This album keeps you engaged. Not only with the stellar songwriting on display, but also with just the sound of it. There are so many sonic textures on display here, whether it’s the cinematic string arrangements, the violent violin stabs, or the vocal experimentation, there’s always something that grabs your attention.

Overall, this is great, and I could not recommend it enough. Also, what an insane pull to have THE John Cale on your album. Crazy!

Favorite song: “My Reminder”
