Paul Simon, Seven Psalms *MUST HEAR*
So, when I heard Paul Simon was coming out of retirement to release an album consisting of a single epic 33 minute long song that came to him in a dream, I knew this was either going to be a pretentious bore, or something extraordinary. The end result is somewhere in the middle, but it leans towards the extraordinary. While Paul Simon’s lyricism brings a lot of depth and weight to the morbid themes explored, I do think the sections would have been better served as their own individual tracks, just so he had more time to develop each musically. But still, he’s one of the masters, the project is interesting and introspective, and there are enough high points for me to recommend everyone listen to it at least once.
