M.I.A., M.I.7. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌
M.I.A. is back with her seventh album. She’s also back with clothing that supposedly blocks out 10G waves. So… That’s interesting. Because of things like that, I really did not have high hopes for this album.
But, her losing the plot or not, this album is her best since 2013’s Matangi. Sonically, this is vintage M.I.A. And I’m not just saying that because she does sample some of her older work on here. Everything on here is her working at full power.
Now, the lyrics are going to be polarizing. It’s all evangelical Christian since she converted a few years back. I can see how that would turn off a lot of people. But there’s also some autobiographical flashes mixed in here, making for an interesting listen if you’re willing to dig into it.
Overall, this is definitely poised to be a polarizing album, but I think it’s definitely worth a listen.
