Mac Miller, Balloonerism ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌
Coincidentally, this is the second posthumous rap album I have covered in the last month. The other one was the newest offering from the Juice WRLD estate. One felt like soulless, opportunistic, carelessly slapped together cash grab, and the other one was Mac Miller’s Balloonerism.
This is a prime example of a great posthumous release. It covers a body of work that was recorded during a certain period of time (March, 2014), seems cohesive and thoughtfully put together, and sounds like something the artist wouldn’t have been ashamed of people hearing.
This album showcases exactly why Mac was such a beloved artist. The experimentation in the production and rawness in the lyrics here remind you what a talent the world lost.
