Oct. 13th, Margo Price Strays II *MUST HEAR*

If you didn’t understand the hype Margo Price’s Strays was getting, you’re not alone. I didn’t understand it either. It was the second album I reviewed this year, and I was underwhelmed. It did not deliver on the hype at all.

BUT! Margo is back with Strays II, and don’t say the sequel is never as good as the original, because I think this surpasses the first album in every way. She’s taking a lot more risks and doing a lot more experimenting here. The songwriting and production is phenomenal. Reminds me a lot of prime Neil Young, honestly. The only downside is that for some reason she released Strays II as a double disc set with the original Strays album taking up disc one. Makes absolutely no sense because the release is even called just Stray II. It’s not even a deluxe edition. I don’t understand why she released it like this. Really weird. So if you’re listening on streaming it actually starts on the 11th track “Strays.”

Favorite song: “Malibu (feat. Jonathon Wilson & Buck Meek)”
