Tim Heidecker, Slipping Away ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tim Heidecker is back with his latest album. In recent years the Tim & Eric co-creator has been focusing more and more on his music career. I’ve always been a little ambivalent to his albums in the past, but he has taken a huge step forward on this album.

First of all, the production is so much better than on his previous work. That’s the first thing you’ll notice. Sonically, everything is so warm. It has a lot of atmosphere, and that’s also due to the top notch instrumentation provided by The Very Good Band. On top of that, the songwriting is so focused and concise. Thematically and musically, it all fits together, and really feels like a cohesive work. His musings on parenthood and the existential dread of the world we’re leaving behind for future generations is very effective and moving.

I really enjoyed this album. One of the rare albums where I listened to it for the first time, and then immediately wanted to play it again. This is, without a doubt, his best album to date.

Favorite song: “Something Somewhere”
