Oct. 20th, The Rolling Stones Hackney Diamonds
Them British bad boys are back with their first album of original material in 18 years. The pre-release press hyped this album up so much, but does it live up to it? Yes, and no. Is this the best Rolling Stones album since Tattoo You? Probably, sure. But is this some sort of late career masterpiece? Not quite. It starts off strong, and ends strong, but the middle devolves into a meandering filler filled affair.
Overall, there are moments here that shine like a good ol’ fashion Rolling Stones album, but there are also moments that sound confused with very pop production. It’s a mixed bag, but I’m sure it’ll make a welcome addition to the Stones’ canon for most fans.
